Silverstone Racing Circuit
Tracsis Events have been providing event traffic management and car parking services at Silverstone Racing Circuit since 2010
Experienced support
We currently supply services at 16 events held at the venue each year, including the flagship event, the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, held in July each year.
Responsibility and key areas of development
Our key areas of responsibility are development of the venue Traffic Management Plan (TMP), placement of traffic management / traffic signs and way finder signs, management of venue car parks, ticket sales, and management of the event Control Room operation. We are key partners in Silverstone’s strategy meetings and work as part of a wider venue operations team.
Today, our operation at the British Grand Prix involves deploying 300 staff to park approximately 21,000 vehicles and manage 3 Park and Ride sides. Further, we deploy 15 Traffic Management Operatives (TMOs), 10 Police Accredited Traffic Officers (PATO) and 10 High Speed Crew members to place approximately 2,200 cones, 410 event directional signs, 362 Chapter 8 Signs, and 211 bespoke internal way finding signs. Across the full calendar year, our total deployment is around 950 staff to support all events held at the venue. The TMP continues to evolve to enhance the customer experience, and the Tracsis Events team are considered key partners in venue strategy meetings alongside Silverstone venue staff, representatives of customer groups, and other third parties, all of whom contribute to effective planning for future events.
Results, Return on Investment, and Future Plans
In 2021, the scope of our deployment was extended to include deployment of temporary video and ANPR camera technology, variable message signs, and temporary traffic signals. This hardware, when combined with our Tracsis Live Technology (TLT) platform tailored specifically to the needs of the events market, enables the Tracsis Events team to assess the impact of our operation on a live basis by monitoring average journey times on 52 nearby approach routes, and accumulation of vehicles in venue car parks. The image below shows the TLT platform in use during the Grand Prix.
We would like to pass on a huge thank you from Silverstone Circuits to you and your team for the tremendous effort, hard work and dedication demonstrated by you and your team, in the build-up and during this year’s Formula One British Grand Prix. The Team and I look forward to speaking to you over the coming weeks and to start working on plans for next year to deliver an even more impressive event.
