Bristol International Balloon Fiesta

The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is Europes leading hot air balloon gathering and grants free access to all visitors.

Tracsis Events works closely with the production company, the police and the local council to manage the traffic and has to plan for multiple phase traffic access and egress – necessary owing to the show timetable. Co-ordination of road closures, car park timings, balloon launches and fly-bys (both highly sensitive to the weather) is as important as traffic conditions and all alter continually throughout the event. Flexibility of response is essential. During the event, close liaison with the police and council is essential to safe operation owing to the large numbers of pedestrians and vehicle in the vicinity. Although ultimate decisions are made by the authorities, Tracsis Events plays a key role in advising on situations and incidents throughout the day.

As well as parking services, we provide off-site management and monitor teams, road closure staff and admission control personnel.

The 4 day show takes place in early August each year on the grounds of Ashton Court Estate, attracting up to 250,000 visitors by car, shuttle bus and on foot from the city centre. Along with 9 access points, 6 car parks and its close proximity to very busy commuter routes, the shear footprint of the event makes the traffic management operation an extremely high priority to the overall delivery of the show. With a constantly changing environment due to the hustle and bustle of the city traffic and the restricted access over the River Avon, management of the to the experience not only for the visitor, but the local residents of the surrounding areas.
